Photo coverage of Hurricane Frances
Aftermath (September 5, 2004)
We're getting photos out by battery power whenever we can. More
to come soon.
Trees down and vegetation stripped on Dunmore Street

Ralph's Aura Corner in disarray

Roof damage at Parrot's Perch

Damage at Valentines dock

Beach stairs with missing steps

But isn't it nice to have all the seaweed washed
away?

Eye of Storm (September 3, 2004, 9:30 am)
We're currently in the eye of the storm after a night to 120 mile
winds. Damage is blessedly slight: a small amount of beach erosion,
lots of trees and vegetation down, and some roof damage to the Coral
Cay house on Bay Street. No reports of injuries, no loss of stairs
down to the beach, and no flooding of Bay Street, though that may
change as the storm reappears in about a half hour from the other
direction. We'll have more photos as soon as electricity is restored.
Preparations (September 2, 2004)
Hurricane Frances is just reaching the Bahamas today. Shots below
are of preparations taken in the last couple days. We will post
additional shots as they become available.
Methodist church boarded up

John Bull shop boarded up with boats pulled up from
Gov. dock

Furniture removed from deck of Coral Sands Hotel

Early winds whip the palms and an extra low tide
fortells the coming storm

A few hours later-- All boats now gone from the
dock and an eerie quiet in town -- but for the dominoes game going
at Charlie's Bar.
